Walk This Way Party Kick Off Bix 7

Information from Genesis Health System

The Quad-City Times Bix 7 is more than a grueling road race that attracts runners from all over the world. The Bix is also one of the best parties of the summer, starting with the Walk This Way event on Thursday night before the Bix. Walk This Way is set for July 26, with proceeds benefitting the Genesis Heart Institute for heart disease education and services.

Hundreds of walkers in special commemorative t-shirts will stroll up Brady Street at 8 p.m. to honor the memory of someone they know who has battled heart disease. By purchasing a special t-shirt to support the cause, walkers will also be able to kick off the Bix at a great party.

Participants can acknowledge whom they are walking for by writing the person’s name in an open heart featured on the shirt. Individual shirts are $20 each.

The commemorative t-shirt is your ticket to the party from 6:30-9 p.m. Enjoy free beer and live entertainment by Wicked Liz and the Bellyswirls. Java Java will be on-site with food offers. The party will be at 4th and Brady Streets.

Cardiovascular diseases account for one of every three deaths in the United States, and more than 2,200 Americans die of cardiovascular diseases every day. Cardiovascular disease in the U.S. costs a staggering $300 billion annually.
