Seniors and Law Enforcement Together (SALT – also known as Triad) Will not meet the months of November and December. Remember, this is a prime time for charity type scams. Be wary. The first meeting of 2016 will be Wednesday, January 27, 2016. We will then resume our regular meetings the fourth Wednesday of the month, 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM. Representatives from Scott County, Davenport and Bettendorf law enforcement agencies, State Troopers and other senior advocates meet to discuss scams in the area, how to be a savvy senior, identity theft and other issues. Other Events

Deere-Wiman House and Butterworth Center – 1105 8th Street, Moline, IL 61265 – presents holiday festivities with the charming traditions of a 19th Century Christmas! Set for Sunday, Dec. 6, in Moline, Ill., the event offers an afternoon of family-friendly activities and events in a traditional, historic setting. At the Butterworth Center and Deere-Wiman House, the halls will be decked with trees and trimmings, and the sounds of live music will add a festive note. Holiday activities will also be held that afternoon at the Butterworth Education Center and Deere-Wiman Carriage House, both located conveniently nearby.
At Butterworth Center, the 1892 home of William and Katherine Butterworth, the Moline High School Chamber Orchestra will perform from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m., followed by Pianist Dalaie Choi from 1:30 to 2:15 p.m., the Moline Boys Choir from 2:30 to 3 p.m. and Harpist Lydia Olsen at 3:30 p.m. Cookies and punch will be served all afternoon. A new exhibit, Domestic Life at Butterworth, tells the story of the servants who once worked behind the scenes in this showpiece residence.
Butterworth Education Center, built in 1910 and remodeled in 2009, was once home to a squash court and servants’ quarters. Today the education center houses meeting space and projection room. During the holiday event, Santa will distribute treats to young visitors (and free books to the first 400). Parents are welcome to take photos. Other events offered from noon to 5 p.m. include children’s crafts and activities, sponsored by WQPT Quad Cities Public Television; an exhibit on the Deere-Wiman swimming pool; and videos created by the Butterworth Trust with WQPT. The schedule includes Uncommon Assets: The Life and Legacy of John Deere and Hidden Treasures: Discovering Butterworth Center and Deere-Wiman House through the Eyes of a Child. Free hot chocolate will be available.
At Deere-Wiman House, the 1872 home of Charles Deere, John Deere’s son. live music will be provided by the Slide Trombone Quartet (12 to 12:45 p.m. and 2 to 2:45 p.m.), acoustic Guitarist Don Estes (1-1:45 p.m.) and Pianist Eric Newton (3 p.m.). Charles Wiman’s 1933 Lionel train set will be on display and visitors can take self-guided tours of the festively decorated home

Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center announces upcoming blood drives. The Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center has scheduled these blood drives for the Quad-City area and surrounding communities from Friday, December 4th to Thursday, December 17th.
Friday, December 4th – PIE DAY FRIDAY: At both MVRBC Davenport Donor Centers located at 5500 Lakeview Parkway and W. Kimberly Road in the CASI building.  All presenting donors will receive a free slice of pie.  Also, all will be place into raffle to receive a free whole pie.
