Why Have Your Surgery Locally?

A decision to have care outside of your community can mean many trips above and beyond the day of surgery.

People often seek care at a specialty center when diagnosed with a new cancer or other serious medical problem. Oftentimes people travel hundreds of miles for treatment which could be managed locally with a high level of expertise. A decision to have care outside of your community can mean many trips above and beyond the day of surgery. Patients are often frustrated when they need to travel out of the community for after care when they have had services at a distant hospital. They do not always consider getting into a car for a long trip when they feel sick or have a new incision.

Davenport Surgical Group has been serving the Quad Cities and outlying communities since 1961. All members of Davenport Surgical Group are board-certified and Fellows of the American College of Surgeons. In partnership Davenport Surgical Group and Genesis have established both the Center for Weight Management and the Genesis McCay Center for Breast Health. The Genesis Center for Weight Management has a long-standing centers of excellence status and is a regional leader in weight loss surgery. The full spectrum of breast and breast cancer care is available locally and includes: oncology, radiation oncology, breast surgery and reconstructive breast surgery.

Davenport Surgical Group serves as a regional leaderin robotic surgery. Robotic surgeries often mean a shorterhospital stay, less blood loss, fewer complications, less need for narcotic pain medicine, faster recovery and small incisions. Services offered include: small bowel and colon surgery, inguinal and ventral hernia surgery, other surgeries of the GI tract, splenectomy, cholecystectomy, and biopsies within the abdominal cavity.
