A New Type of Home

Information from Friendship Manor

Ron and Aldine didn’t think they were ready to move into a retirement community. But last fall, after being invited for a visit by some friends who live at the Manor, they attended the open house event and quickly changed their minds.

“We came to the open house and took a personal tour,” Ron shares. “A day or so later we were called and told one of the villas was available to rent. We took a look at the villa, liked it and decided to sell our house and move in. Seeing the villas and what was offered through Friendship Manor made me realize I was really tired of cutting grass, dealing with snow, and the aches and pains from all that work.”

As villa renters, the couple has access to all of the activities just across the street at the Manor. “We come over almost every day. There is always some activity planned that we like. Plus we use the fitness center, enjoy reading the paper in the library and socialize during coffee,” they shared.

The couple had great advice on how to meet new friends at Friendship Manor. “We both volunteer at the Country Store. It’s a great way to meet your neighbors and really get to know people well. When we first moved in, other residents would ask us how long we had lived at Friendship Manor. When we would say we just moved in, they’d always invite us to sit at their table for dinner. That was very welcoming, so we try and invite other new residents to join us. It’s just a nice, congenial and friendly place to live.”

Although they still drive and enjoy the close proximity to many stores and restaurants in town, they appreciate the opportunity to hop on the Friendship Manor van and be whisked away for dinner, entertainment or shopping. Ron and Aldine are happy they moved into Friendship Manor together while they are active and can enjoy all the benefits of a continuing care retirement community.
