Eat Your Way Through June

June is Candy Month, Dairy Month, National Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Month and Turkey Lovers Month.

A breakdown of daily observances will give you the following. During the first eight days of June you can celebrate World Milk Day on June 1st. National Rocky Road Ice Cream Day is on June 2nd. June 4th is Applesauce Cake Day and National Cheese Day. National Chocolate Ice Cream Day is June 7th, as is National Doughnut Day this year. National Doughnut Day is the first Friday in June.

The second week of June starts out with National Strawberry Rhubarb Pie Day on the 9th. June 10th is Herbs and Spices Day and Iced Tea Day. National Corn on the Cob Day is celebrated on the 11th. June 12th boasts of National Jerky Day and National Peanut Butter Cookie Day. June 16th is National Fresh Vegetables Day – and the 17th is Eat Your Vegetable Day.

Week three in June has International Picnic Day and International Sushi Day. Both are on June 18th. June 20th is Ice Cream Soda Day. Pick your flavor! National Chocolate Eclair Day is the 22nd.

The month winds down with June 23rd as Eat at a Food Truck Day. The 25th is National Catfish Day. Waffle Iron Day is June 29th. The possibilities are endless for waffle sandwiches and desserts. Bon Appetit!

June is also rich in patriotic history. June 6th is D-Day. This is a very important date in the history of World War II. Tuesday, June 6, 1944 is the date of the Normandy landings, the landing operation of the Allied invasion of Normandy in Operation Overlord during World War II. Codenamed Operation Neptune and referred to as D-Day, it was the largest seaborne invasion in history.

June 14, we celebrate Flag Day. This date commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States of American in 1777 by resolution of the Second Continental Congress.
