Time is Marching On … A New Month … A New Year … A New Decade

Welcome, 2020! Are you like me? I remember when 1984 seemed like such a futuristic time, something unreal and probably not attainable. Then there was the New Millennium and Y2K. For me, 2020 was definitely a far-off time I didn’t comprehend. Twenty-twenty was a number used to talk about eyesight. But time has marched on and here we are in 2020. Embrace it.

Insightful quotes about time, how we use it, and it’s effects on life.

  • Time is free, but priceless. You can’t own it, but you can use it. You can’t keep it, but you can spend it. Once you’ve lost it, you can’t get it back.   – Harvey Maclay
  • Time flies over us, but leaves its shadow behind.
    – Nathaniel Hawthorne
  • Yesterday is but today’s memory, and tomorrow is today’s dream.     Khalil Gibran
  • One day, you’re 17 and you’re planning for someday. And then quietly, without you ever really noticing, someday is today. And then someday is yesterday. And this is your life.   – John Green
  • Unfortunately, the clock is ticking, the hours are going by. The past increases, the future recedes. Possibilities decreasing, regrets mounting.  – Haruki Murakami
  • Time passes so slowly if you are unaware of it and so quickly if you are aware of it.  – Marc Bolan
  • Lost time is never found again.    Benjamin Franklin
  • Time is more valuable than money. You can get more money, but you can’t get more time.     Jim Rohn
  • Never give up on a dream because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway. –  Earl Nightingale
  • Life is not just the passing of time. Life is the collection of experiences and their intensity. –   Jim Rohn
  • The pictures do not lie, but neither do they tell the whole story. They are merely a record of time passing, the outward evidence.    Paul Auster
  • Time is a sort of river of passing events, and strong is it’s current; no sooner is a thing brought to sight than it is swept by and another takes its place, and this too will be swept away. –   Marcus Aurelius
  • Time is what prevents everything from happening at once. –   John Archibald Wheeler
  • You may delay, but time will not. –  Benjamin Franklin
  • Time goes, you say? Ah, no! alas, time stays, we go. –  Henry Austin Dobson
  • The trouble is you think you have time. – Gautama Buddha
  • The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mode but the true beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It is the caring that she lovingly gives the passion that she shows. The beauty of a woman grows with time and the passing years. –  Audrey Hepburn
  • Time is a brisk wind, for each hour it brings something new. –  Paracelsus
  • Life is flying by. You don’t have to waste another minute being negative, offended or bitter. If someone did you wrong, get over it and move forward. –   Joel Osteen
  • If you love life, don’t waste time, for time is what life is made up of. –   Bruce Lee
  • Neither can the wave that has passed by be recalled, nor the hour which has passed return again. –   Ovid
  • Time is a great teacher, but unfortunately, it kills all its pupils. –   Hector Berlioz
  • You learn something out of everything, and you come to realize more than ever that we’re all here for a certain space of time, and, and then it’s going to be over, and you better make this count. –   Nancy Reagan

After reading others’ ideas about time, I have come to a conclusion. Time is constantly moving forward. So as we enter the new decade, I have a wish for you. May you march forward, enjoying life and using time wisely. If you find yourself doubting how far you can go, just remember how far you have come, the time it took to get here. Remember everything you have already faced, the battles you have already won, and all the fears you have overcome. With all of that behind you, Time will be on your side. Have a Blessed 2020.
