The Hilltop Campus Village – A Race Runs Through It

Did you know that the Quad-City Times Bix 7, one of the premiere foot races, runs right through the heart of the Hilltop Campus Village? If you are running or walking the BIX route you begin in downtown Davenport, but within a couple of blocks you are heading up Brady Street hill – and that is right smack dab in the Hilltop Campus Village.

After Brady Street you head down Kirkwood Blvd, towards the Village of East Davenport. Then you hoof it down McClellan Boulevard, in McClellan Heights to the turn around. Now you get to retrace your steps up McClellan Boulevard, meander on Kirkwood Boulevard, and run down Brady Street hill. This out and back course, along with the opportunity for the every-day runner to run along side elite and professional athletes, is where the race got it’s tagline #RunWithTheBest!

If you choose to do the Quick BIX, a two mile walk/run course sponsored by Prairie Farms, you start out with all the others, head up Brady Street hill, but turn right on 15th Street. Then turn right again on Perry and head back down the hill. All of this is in the Hilltop Campus Village.

Two days before the road race on July 30, 2022, is the Brady Street Sprints sponsored by Genesis Sports Medicine. This is a quarter mile climb up Brady Street hill. Many races are included in the Sprints. An elite group of runners try this challenge. There are four open races: Men’s 29 and under, Women’s 29 and under, Men’s 39 and under, Women’s 39 and under. Two masters’ races (40+ men’s and 40+ women’s). Two High School relays, the boys race and the girls race. Then the final race for BIX sponsors. This event, like the Bix 7 race, is covered on live TV through KWQC.

If you are keeping count, that means nine different races for the Brady Street Sprints. This event takes place starting at 7:00 pm on Thursday July 28. Heads up – a section of Brady Street will be blocked off starting at 6:00 pm.

This is the 48th year for the Quad-City Times Bix 7 race. There have been so many additions to this event since the first race with only a few runners. This year is no exception. Michelle Jeuhring, Race Director, has announced the addition of a team competition.

The Caesar’s Sportsbook Team Challenge, sponsored by the Isle Casino Hotel Bettendorf, is an inaugural competition where teams of five athletes each race the 7-mile course for cash prizes and bragging rights. Registration is limited to just 40 teams this first year.

Check out the Facebook page, Quad-City Times Bix 7, or the website, bix7.com for all of the details of all of the events.
