BETTENDORF PUBLIC LIBRARY’S MYSTERY BOOK DISCUSSION
 
A discussion of “Murder, With Peacocks” by Donna Andrews led by Donan McAuley will take place in the Bettendorf Public Library’s Malmros Conference Room, Saturday, November 14, from 9:30 A.M.-11:00 A.M.   The Mystery Discussion Group theme for this year is animals. Books are funded by The Friends of the Bettendorf Public Library and are available for loan on a first-come basis at the Information Desk.  New members are always welcome.

BETTENDORF PUBLIC LIBRARY’S CONTEMPORARY BOOKS DISCUSSIONS

On Wednesday, November 18, at 1:00 P.M. in the Bettendorf Public Library’s Malmros Room, there will be a discussion of “Tried By War: Abraham Lincoln as Commander-in-Chief”  led by Western Illinois University Lincoln Scholar Timothy Roberts in commemoration of the 200th anniversary of Lincoln’s birth.     At 7:00 p.m. on November 18, Bettendorf Librarian Hedy Hustedde will lead a discussion of the 2009 All Iowa Reads book “The Rope Walk” by Carrie Brown.  Both books are available for loan on a first-come basis at the Information Desk. New members are always welcome.

BETTENDORF PUBLIC LIBRARY TO SHOW FILM “JOYEUX NOEL”
 
On Thursday November 19, 6:30-8:45 P.M., in the Bettendorf Public Library’s Junior League Program Room, the 2005 film “Joyeux Noel” will be shown.    The film is 116 minutes long, rated PG-13, and will be introduced by military historian George Eaton as a commemoration of the 95th anniversary of three armies’ “Christmas Eve truce” during World War I.  This event is a partnership between the Bettendorf Public Library and the German American Heritage Center.
