Genesis Health System Among Top 20 Percent For Patient Quality and Safety

Genesis Health System has been designated among the top 20 percent of health systems analyzed for quality of patient care and safety of patient care by Thomson Reuters.

The Thomson Reuters 100 Top Hospitals: Health System Benchmarks is an annual, quantitative study. With objective, independent research using public data sources, Thomson Reuters identified health systems with the highest benchmarks focused on clinical quality and efficiency.

Genesis Health System was rated in the top quintile — top 51 health systems — of 255 that were analyzed and reviewed. Genesis Health System is the only locally based health system in the Quad Cities region.

Thomson Reuters reports that this year’s top systems had lower inpatient mortality rates, fewer complications, better patient safety than their peers and patients return home sooner with better long-term outcomes.

“Of course, the designation is very flattering,” said Doug Cropper, president and CEO of Genesis Health System. “But, the most important aspect of this recognition is what it means to our patients. The independent evaluation is validation that Genesis delivers safe, high-quality patient care with outcomes better than most of our peers.

“Patient safety and quality of care are not merely goals at Genesis. They are who we are and what we stand for. Quality is our passion and our commitment to the communities we serve.”
