Annual Children’s Christmas Party, Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center, Wed., Dec. 15, 5 PM-7 PM at Second Baptist Church, 919 6th Avenue, Rock Island, IL (across the street from the King Center). Open to children ages 3-12 who reside in the City of Rock Island, Illinois and whose families are in need during the holiday season.
Be a Santa to a Senior, Home Instead Senior Care. Provides Christmas/holiday gifts to seniors who are in need or may be alone for Christmas. Names taken during office hours Mon.-Fri. 8 AM-4:30 PM through Mon., Dec. 6. Please call Debbie at 563-359-0027.
Christmas Holiday Baskets, St. Anthony’s Church. Christmas baskets for needy residents of Scott Co. Delivery Sat. Dec. 18 from 8 am-12 noon. Recipient must be home to receive basket. Fees: None. Sign up in person at school bldg. behind the church. Photo ID required. Dec. 1-2 from 1 PM-3:30 PM. Photo ID required. Open to residents of the the City of Davenport, Iowa. Only one basket per address.
Dispatch Good Fellow and Argus Santa Fund. Gift certificates mailed in early December to qualified families to help with their Christmas shopping.. Open to parents/guardians of children ages 0-13 currently living in the Rock Island/Milan and Moline/Coal Valley school districts in Illinois. Must meet State of Illinois Food Stamp level income eligibility requirements.
Friendly House Holiday Baskets provides Christmas baskets distributed Dec. 16 to residents in a targeted area of Davenport. Contact Jodi Stock (563) 323-1821, ext. 17 for sign-up details. Sign up is Nov. 1-5, 9 am-11:30 am and 1:30-3 pm. Must be registered in a Friendly House program and/or reside in Davenport, Iowa, west of Brady, south of Central Park, and east of Lincoln. Fees: None.
Holiday Carnival for Children with Disabilities & their Families, Illinois/Iowa Center for Independent Living, 3708 11th Street, Rock Island, IL, Sat., Dec. 11, from 11 AM-3 PM. Open to all children with disabilities (who are residents of the Quad Cities area) and their families. Enjoy a completely accessible Santa’s workshop with activities for all the children including Santa’s ice fishing pond, grandma’s kitchen, craft rooms, and much more! Santa will be accessible to all children, including those who use sign language.For information contact Roberta Garrison (309) 793-0090. Fees: None, however donations and volunteers are accepted.

Program offers $50-$75 worth of food for $31 once a month. The Christmas package is $36 and there is also a new box worth almost $100 for $41. The Friday before the last day to order, the office is open until 6pm and is also open the last Saturday before the order date from 12 noon-4 pm. Prices may vary depending on package purchased. S.H.A.R.E. Food Program of Central Illinois
for December food package, order must be placed by Thursday, December 2. Order at host sites. No income requirements. Program is a self-help, non-governmental food distribution system, based in Peoria. Utilizing community resources and purchasing power, a large variety of brand-name, quality food (including fresh produce) are available at a very affordable price. S.H.A.R.E. is a community-based, self-help program, which builds community through service and the distribution of a monthly food package. Various food packages are available. For package price and 2 hours of volunteer service, participants can save up to 50% on a wide variety of food. The food packages include: frozen meats, fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, grocery items, and a monthly newsletter that provides more information and recipes.
