Making a Difference

Ridgecrest Village

I’m sure everyone knows the Quad Cities has many wonderful Senior Living Facilities. I want to tell you a little more about Ridgecrest Village, and how our community is different from the others. What sets us apart from all the other facilities in our area?

We are a continuum care facility, which means we offer the full realm of care. We have Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, Rehabilitation, Skilled Care, and Nursing Care to End of life. If someone moved into our facility, they wouldn’t have to move from their community again. They would be able to remain with their friends and family no matter what level of care they needed.

Ridgecrest Village is a non-profit organization. We use local advertising companies, printing companies and vendors whenever possible. We do our best to keep the costs down, and our residents have a say in decisions made. Ridgecrest has many resident committees. Those committees cover dietary, maintenance, housekeeping and grounds. Our residents have a voice. I promise you… that voice is heard.

At Ridgecrest Village, we make it a priority to give our residents care above and beyond what is the usual practice. If it is something we can do, we do it. Ridgecrest has a service called Village Home Services that helps someone stay in their own home longer. When I refer to home, the residents consider our village their own home. Once they move in and become acclimated to their apartment or cottage as well as the family atmosphere we have, they tell their friends and family that Ridgecrest Village is their home.

A few years ago, a local senior needed surgery. Her doctor wanted her to receive skilled care and therapy after her surgery to help the healing. She came to Crest, our nursing facility. Her husband Don was here everyday visiting and would eat meals with her. He fell in love with the food. I was asked to give them a tour of our independent living units because they had an interest for the future.  After showing them around, they fell in love with one apartment and decided to move in.  Since then, when I give tours of our facility, I often show their apartment.  I love all of the amazing decorating things they did to make this their home. When Dorothy is talking with the family I am touring, I always hear her say, “This truly is home.” That statement always brings a smile to my face, because I feel I am making a difference in our seniors’ lives.

When you move into Ridgecrest Village, you are given options for your apartment. We want you to be able to personalize it. It is important that you feel at home when you move in. You choose your paint colors and often your carpet color. We want you to make it “your” home. This is the only facility I know of that lets you do that, and what a great thing to do for someone who is deciding to make a life changing move.

Staff-and-Residents

There are three different ways to move into Ridgecrest Village, the most popular one is our Life Care program. This program secures your future so that, no matter what happens later in life, you will be taken care of and never have to worry about having enough money to stay where you want to be. I would love the opportunity to talk to you in person about our community, as well as the ways to move into Ridgecrest. We offer lunch tours, private tours and do our best to take care of drop in visitors. Come see us and let me show you what your future could be.

Oh, and one last thing.  I feel one of the reasons Ridgecrest Village is such a great place for seniors is our staff.  We all know in the health care field, it is hard to keep staff. I’m proud to be able to say our staff has longevity.  If you come visit, take the time to ask someone how long they have been here. You will hear all different answers, from 47 years to days, but the majority will be in the years. I am still considered new, and I have been here three happy years. I hope to see you soon.
