Holiday Shopping Safety Tips

1. Shop during daylight hours whenever possible. If you must shop at night, go with a friend or family member.

2. If shopping after dark, park as close to the building and only in well lit areas.

3. Dress casually and comfortably.

4. If possible, do not carry a purse or wallet.

5. Always carry your driver’s license or identification along with necessary cash, checks and/or a credit card you expect to use.
6. Even though you may feel rushed, stay alert to your surroundings.

7. Avoid carrying large amounts of cash.

8. When possible, pay with a credit card.

9. Keep your ID, cash and credit card in your front pocket.

10. Notify the credit card issuer immediately if your credit card is lost, stolen or misused.

11. Keep a record of all of your credit card numbers in a safe place at home.

12. Avoid overloading yourself with packages.

13. Place packages in the trunk if you intend on
making other stops.

14. Before leaving the store, have the keys in your hand and ready to use.
