Lifelong Learning – a Key to Living Longer
By Jamie Lange
CASI Director of Marketing
As we’re still struggling to hold to our New Year’s Resolutions for a healthier more active life, I challenge you to include stretching your mind this Spring. Lifelong learning and a thirst for knowledge are not new concepts, but I am increasingly amazed by the friends at CASI who are reinventing themselves and learning new skills every day.
There’s so much to explore at CASI
- Take a Zumba class
- Learn to play pool
- Explore martial arts with T’ai Chi
- Try the Bell Choir
- Join our theater Group
And we’re constantly improving minds through educational workshops on
- Financial planning
- Real estate and innovative senior living opportunities
- Healthcare
- Wellness and Fitness
- Planned giving
These programs and activities challenge what it means to be a “senior.” Many of our CASI friends were trailblazers in the 60s and 70s, and they are redefining their roles still today. With that in mind, CASI is hosting their 2nd annual conference on aging “Shades of Grey – Diverse Approaches on Aging” in May. These sessions are sure to challenge your mind and maybe even your body.
Our annual conference is an opportunity to shine a light on many important issues and trends facing our seniors and those who care for them. More than ever before, older Americans are taking charge, striving for wellness, focusing on independence, and advocating for themselves and others. They expect to continue to live their lives to the fullest, and they’re insisting on changes that make that possible. What it means to age has changed and this conference is a perfect opportunity to recognize and celebrate growing older today.
Conference speakers will include:
Teri Clark, MPH
Dr. Steve Kopp, Genesis Health System
Dr. Shyam Seetharaman, St. Ambrose University
We’re bringing you local experts on aging and expanding your horizons with new perspectives. Save the date for May 17, 2017 for the CASI Conference on Aging. But if you can’t wait to explore, try a new activity or learn a new skill today.
