Wind Dancer in the Hilltop Campus Village

The Hilltop Business Association is so very happy to introduce you to one of the newest businesses in the Hilltop Campus Village. Welcome the Wind Dancer. A little bit of fashion, a little bit of accessory, a little bit of fragrance and oil… plus more. Truly a unique boutique with a story to its being, as told by its owner Mhisho:

A number of years ago, my mother happened upon a quaint little shop called Moon Dancer. She had been very eccentric all her life, as well as a gifted intuitive. My mother loved everyone, would help anyone in need, and loved with every ounce of her soul. She had an unquenchable love of clothing, healing stones and all things peaceful. No one can really say whether she found Moon Dancer or it found her, but she found her place and her people. Very quickly she and the store owner, Julie Vonachan, began a friendship that would last the rest of her life. They were soul sisters. For as far back as I can remember, my mother always referred to herself as “Wind.” Through the years, the Moon Dancer family became our extended family, and we loved to visit and shop as often as possible, my mother making it her second home.

Though she was a spiritualist with a grand heart, there was another side to my mother. She battled with mental illness, depression and suicide attempts all her life. Sadly, on June 4th of this year, she lost her battle with suicide. Having our lives touched by suicide, I decided to open Wind Dancer to honor her memory by giving back to the community, bringing people together and sharing beautiful things; it is what she would have wanted.

We opened Wind Dancer, an eclectic boutique in August as a mirror store to Moon Dancer. Along with trendy clothing, beautiful handmade jewelry, handbags and backpacks, we have candles, incense, spiritual tools and so much more. Our vision is to not only be a store where you can find all of those hard to find and unique items, but to be an experience and a place of wellness, healing and surrounded by beauty. In the near future we will hold support groups for those touched by suicide, offer a meditation room and offer resources for those seeking guidance of where they can find help within our community. A portion of our sales will go to Family Resources, survivor services each quarter. We hope that when you walk into Wind Dancer you feel safe, enlightened, welcome. Whether you’re looking for something specific, just browsing, or for a gift for a loved one, we hope to have something to offer all.

You are not alone, you are wanted, and you are loved. ~ Mhisho

We, the Hilltop Business Association, invite you to stop in and visit this new addition to our community. A new store that also gives back to the community.

Wind Dancer is located at 1513 N Harrison Street, Davenport, Iowa. Store hours are Tuesday – Sunday 11:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.; closed Monday.
