March, the Transition Month

Have you ever thought about March being the transition from cold bleak winter to bright flowery spring? When I was in grade school, we always talked about March coming in like a lion and going out like a lamb.

As Google puts it:

“March comes in like a lion, out like a lamb” means that March starts off with cold, winter weather and ends with warmer, spring weather.

Because March straddles the winter/spring line, this is the perfect idiom to describe this month.

That’s quite the transition, I would say!

There is also the time transition that takes place this month. That would be the transition from standard time to daylight saving time. I consider it an abrupt change. It is taking place this year on Sunday, March 8. It takes about six months for my body to transition into the time change. Then it is another abrupt change that takes about six months for another transition. This is definitely one transition I would rather do without!

I checked the dictionary for some synonyms of the word transition. Here is what I found: changeover, conversion, development, evolution, growth, passage and progress. So I hope you have a developing changeover with the evolving conversion of the growth of the passage and progress from winter to spring in this transitional month of March.
