Highlighting Three Community Outreach Services in the Hilltop Campus Village

Carol Center

Vera French Carol Center recently opened its doors at 808 N. Harrison Street in Davenport. Vera French is quality, accessible, and comprehensive mental health care. The Carol Center is the epicenter of community outreach for people recovering from mental illness.

The Center will be collaborating with Mental Health Transitions to do supportive employment for persons recovering from mental illness to get them back in the workforce. There is a peer-run clubhouse for those in recovery to have opportunities to have meaningful responsibilities and help others in recovery. A therapist is available at Carol Center to help those at the Center. The hours are 8-4. Call (563) 322-5276 for more information. Follow them on Facebook or go to their website verafrenchmhc.org.

Hope at the BRICK House

Hope at the BRICK House is located at 1431 Ripley Street. This is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization giving hope to individuals and families through spiritual, educational, and community-based support.

Joyce Klopp, Director, has lived in the area for 27 years. Many of the youth she first had contact with are now grown and have families of their own and have their children in current programs offered at the BRICK House. Some of the activities the BRICK House offers are: after school programs, neighborhood connections, events, and a summer program.

The present summer program offers academics and educational support, and afternoons are mixed with constructive play, field trips, crafts, snacks, and fun time. Lunch is also provided each day.

If you are interested in learning more about the programs or the interaction with the community, call (563) 322-0382 or contact Joyce at jklopp.hbh@gmail.com. Check them out on Facebook or hopeatthebrickhouse.org.
