New Year’s Resolutions

By Anne Coffman

With a new year right around the corner, the conversation naturally goes to New Year’s resolutions. If you like the idea
of welcoming 2022 with some changes, here are some ideas
to consider:

Get a Checkup – Make an appointment for an annual checkup with your primary doctor. How long has it been since your last annual wellness check-up? With the pandemic, many people have delayed their annual wellness appointments, however, it is time to resume the practice. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!

Declutter your Living Space – Take a hard look at your living environment. Do you really need 12 rolls of wrapping paper or that magazine from 2015 that you thought you would read? Decluttering helps you both mentally and physically – think less clutter means fewer tripping hazards.

Eat Healthier – You do not need to go on a radical diet to help make you healthier. Think about small changes, like a couple minutes of exercise or adding more servings of fruit or vegetables each day. Your body (and doctor) will thank you.

Update your Legal Documents – Wills, advance directives (also called a living will), and power of attorney documents need to be in place in case of an emergency. Contact your attorney and set up an appointment to create or update these documents.

Consider a Retirement Community – You may not think you are ready to move to a retirement community, but it would be good to know what all is involved and what each community offers. There is no time like the present to arm yourself with knowledge. We are happy to help you learn about our retirement community. Schedule a no-hassle visit today by calling (563) 388-3215.

We wish you nothing but health and happiness in the new year!
