A Pause for Poetry

By Gary Heath
Poet in Residence for 50+ Lifestyles.

Coffee Dawn

Morning is here, the coffee is on,
It percolates our dawn, soon the
First cup is gone. And now the
Second maybe, or even a third,
And now maybe, coffee’s the goal.
Oh how things get lost in caffeine,
A standup stimulus with its own
Routine, or so it seems, when the
Coffee is on in the dawn, and our
First cup is gone.

Balloons in the Wind

Tethered balloons tilt in the breeze,
Dance lightly in zephyrs from the
West, balloons filled with joy, they
Sway to aeolian rhythms playing
In the trees, a cerulean sky day
Free of cark and care. We are free
Outdoors, alfresco together, a sodality
Of balloon tiers, we tie more balloons
To dance in the wind. We gather with
Our bright balloons full of joy on a
Verdant, vivid green field amid trees
Standing tall and joyous in the wind.
