Best Steak Marinade

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 tablespoons dried basil
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 tablespoonsdried parsley flakes
  • 1 teaspoon ground white pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried minced garlic
  • 1/4 teaspoon hot pepper sauce

 

Directions:

  1. Gather ingredients.
  2. In blender, mix on high for 30 seconds: olive oil, soy sauce, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, basil, garlic powder, parsley, white pepper, garlic powder, and hot pepper sauce.
  3. Marinate on steaks for 8 hours.

Caramelized Onions

Ingredients:

  • 3 yellow onions
  • 4 Tbsp canola oil or olive oil (use what you prefer)
  • Add a sprinkle of sugar to the oil. It will speed up the browning process.

 

Directions:

  1. Cut the onions in half and julienne cut each onion.
  2. Separate the slices.
  3. Heat a large, wide pan to medium-high heat (skillet works best, not a saucepan).
  4. Add oil to the pan. When there is a wisp of smoke, carefully add the onions.
  5. Stir periodically for 10 minutes, allowing the onions to color.
  6. Reduce the heat to medium-low and continue to cook for 10 minutes, stirring frequently.
  7. Reduce the heat to low and continue to cook until evenly caramelized for about 15 more minutes.
