Celebrating Assisted Living

As October settles in, we say goodbye to summer and embrace all the Fall season has to offer. We enjoy football games, bonfires and s’mores, mums and the beauty of the changing leaves giving us a spectacular color show. There are plenty of Fall Festivals, pumpkin patches and apple orchards to visit. Who doesn’t love an apple cider donut? We hang on to those last days of warm weather in preparation for sweatshirts and soup weather.
It is important to remember to include our seniors in all these Fall activities. This is a great time to watch the grandkids play football and soccer, pick those apples and pumpkins together, and bake grandma’s favorite apple pie or pumpkin bars, creating special family memories.

Grandparents Day, 2025
It is important for all of us to stay engaged both physically and mentally. Fall is a good time to start a new indoor hobby, exercise program or take a class. If you have a particular skill you would like to share, teach a class or share your talents with your family.
October is also the time we prepare our homes and yards for winter. That usually means chores like washing windows, power-washing homes and driveways, outdoor fix-ups, lawn care, tree trimming, and maybe even plant dividing. We prepare our mowers and outdoor tools for storage and prepare the snow blowers for what’s to come.
It is a lot to do for sure. If you feel overwhelmed by the fall clean up at home, maybe it is a changing season in your life. Moving to a senior living community would alleviate all those responsibilities and allow time to enjoy those family experiences and new experiences that senior living provides, like bus trips to the theater, art classes, games and, of course, Happy Hours and live music. This is the season of life to be unencumbered by extra chores and just enjoy the good life. Family participation is
encouraged not just by visiting, but by being involved in community activities.

Grandparents Day, 2025
Last month at Park Vista-North Hill, we had a large outdoor party celebrating Grandparents Day, and it was wonderful to see multiple generations of families come and enjoy the day with their loved ones. We even had a photo booth to capture the memories created that day. Both Camanche and North Hill properties will be celebrating Halloween by having a large Trick or Treat night for residents and families to enjoy.
There is always something to do and someone to do it with. Going into the winter season can be a challenge for seniors. Especially those that live alone. If you are feeling like this may be the season to make a change, feel free to reach out for more information or to schedule a lunch and tour at www.parkvistaliving.org.
