Fall means a full schedule for many families, with school activities, football and holidays. As the days cool down and heaters turn on, the air dries out, leaving us dehydrated. Being dehydrated can cause our skin to become cracked and dry, and can make us feel sluggish, tired and weighed down. Try some of these hydration tips to feel your best even during the dry months.

1. Carry a Compact Water Bottle Wherever You Go:

Turn your water bottle into an essential accessory! Even a 16-ounce bottle that travels with you to work, school and elsewhere can make a big difference in staying hydrated. This will remind you throughout the day to periodically take sips and maintain hydration. Carrying a compact
bottle that fits easily into a purse, backpack or bag can make it easier to maintain proper hydration. Reusable insulated bottles can help keep your water cold, so you have a refreshing drink throughout your day.

2. Try Water Additives:

If you are struggling to drink plain water during the day, try sugar-free water additives like Liquid I.V. Liquid I.V. uses hydrascience, a science-backed formula that promotes extraordinary hydration. Liquid I.V. uses allulose, an artificial sugar, in their sugar-free options that are better for you than your average artificial sugar. Adding a packet to 16 ounces of water promotes big flavor that can help you drink more water throughout the day.

3. Hydrate Before Caffeine:

Many of us like to start the day with a hot cup of coffee or tea, but having caffeine first thing in the morning can lead to a lack of water intake, especially when our bodies need it most. Make it a habit to drink a glass of water before you enjoy a cup of coffee or tea.

4. Eat Your Water:

No, that is not a typo—you really can eat your water! Fruits like mangos from the National Mango Board can help add to your daily water intake. Fruits are made of mostly water, which in turn can help your hydration status! Try adding mangos to your breakfast, paired with yogurt and granola, or eat them plain as a refreshing afternoon snack!

5. Use a Humidifier:

As you heat your home, indoor air can lose humidity. This can dry out your hair, skin and nose. Incorporating a humidifier a few times a week at night when you’re sleeping can help combat the effects of dry air. You will wake up feeling more rejuvenated and less dry and stuffy. Air with more humidity also helps you avoid illnesses in the fall and winter.
