Want to become a more confident, prepared, and supported caregiver? Join us for the.14th Annual Caregiver Conference: Caregiver Training Camp on Saturday, November 15, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Golden Leaf Banquet Center in Davenport. This free, hands-on event offers interactive skill stations, expert guidance, and dozens of vendor resources—all designed to make caregiving easier, safer, and more manageable.

Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in five interactive skill stations, each led by experts in the field:

  • Senior Housing 101 – Presented by Haley Flenker from Senior Star, this sessionhelps caregivers understand options for retirement communities, assisted living, and other senior housing choices.
  • Medication Management – Led by Tracy Tran from Main at Locust Pharmacy, attendees will learn safe medication practices, organizing tips, and strategies to avoid common errors.
  • Physical Activity and Falls Prevention – Presented by Abbie Coniglio from Iowa State University Kinesiology Department/FRAIL, this session covers practical exercises, home modifications, and strategies to reduce the risk of falls.
  • Communication & Dementia-Friendly Care – Amy Gutknecht from Dementia Friendly Iowa guides participants through effective ways to communicate witholder adults,  specially those living with dementia, and offers strategies for compassionate, dementia-friendly care.
  • Nutrition & Mealtime Support – Led by Lisa Harwood from Milestones AAA, this session explores practical approaches to ensure older adults maintain a healthy, balanced diet, including tips for picky eaters, texture modifications, and meal planning.

In addition to skill stations, the conference features over 40 vendor tables showcasing resources, products, and services to support caregivers in their daily responsibilities. Interactive demonstrations, raffle prizes, and free refreshments make the morning both educational and enjoyable.
