Ghost Town

Where is the downtown I knew?
I find it nowhere now in view!
It seems so desolate downtown,
Shuttered windows now abound!
I have many great memories so fond,
Now youth wander aimlessly around,
Amid the ghosts of the town I knew,
Nothing here for young people to do!

Miss Piggy

Iowa’s most famous celebrity,
I believe, it is our Miss Piggy,
Big farm exemplar porcine,
Upon whom so many dine.
Once the Iowa census is done,
Pigs here outnumber everyone.
Miss Piggy came off the hog lot,
Exemplar of the protein we sought.
Now she widely oinks her presence,
Star of our most numerous residents.
