What’s New at Ridgecrest

In 1966, Ridgecrest Village, a faith-based senior retirement community, opened its doors on a 22-acre campus in Davenport. From the very beginning, Ridgecrest became a provider of choice for older adults, and it remains so today. The community offers the full continuum of care, including Independent Living Apartments and Cottages, Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Skilled and Long-Term Nursing Care. With so much happening at Ridgecrest, this is a good time to share some of the exciting updates.

Unlike many senior retirement communities, Ridgecrest is faith-based, nonprofit, and freestanding. It is not owned by a corporation or tied to an out-of-town partnership. Instead, Ridgecrest is guided by a local board of directors, with every decision made right here in Davenport. The focus has always been on residents, supported by a team that takes great pride in caring for them.

Keeping that focus in mind, Ridgecrest made a major change last year: ending the Lifecare (buy-in) option at admission. This means new residents are no longer asked to pay a large upfront entrance fee to secure care for the future. Instead, Ridgecrest has a modest $1,500 entrance fee, making it one of the most competitively priced retirement communities to access in the Quad Cities. Also, by offering month-to-month rent, without the commitment of a long-term lease, it makes it even that much easier for consumers to make the leap to retirement living.

Terrace Building

Another new development is the more than $2 million investment in the Terrace Building, located at the back of campus. Monthly rent starts at $2,250 and includes
the same amenity package as other units on the campus: one chef-prepared meal daily, utilities, housekeeping, scheduled medical transportation, activities, an on-staff chaplain, security, maintenance, and more. The Terrace updates have generated a great deal of interest, with many apartments already rented. An Open House of the Terrace Building is scheduled for October 22 from 3–5 p.m., and the public is invited to join the celebratory open house and take a tour. Ridgecrest features a total of four different Independent Living options—Eastridge, Northridge, Cottages, and Terrace—each offering a variety of floor plans. As residents’ needs change, they may apply to transition seamlessly to higher levels of care offered on the campus, most under the same roof.

  • Crest—82 unit Long-Term and Skilled Nursing Care (Medicare/Medicaid)
  • Oakwood Place—45 unit Assisted Living
  • Oakwood Gardens—15 unit Memory Care Assisted Living

Residents often say Ridgecrest “just feels like home, where they fit in.” For many who worry about their ability to afford retirement living, the numbers are surprising. Once they add up the true costs of living in their own home, many find Ridgecrest Village is not only attainable, but often more affordable than they imagined.
