A Pause for Poetry

My Little Lifeline

I got my little lifeline,
It snuggles on my chest.
My lifeline is so very fine,
It beckons at my behest!
Should I fall on my back,
It has an electronic knack,
To call vital help my way,
I’m so grateful, I must say!
I wear my lifeline everywhere,
To part with it, I could not bear!
I want to wear it when I die,
And on to the sweet by and by!

Color in Caracas

We drive by bright houses that shine,
They glitter resplendently in the sun,
Full of the high color of wealth,
The kids the picture of health!
We continue further along,
And we see something is wrong,
Wrong on these hills around,
So much wrong to be found!
Houses and kids lack color bright,
A drab, sad, heart-rending sight!
Stark sadness travels this way,
As bright color loses its way.
