- July 2nd, 1962: First Wal-Mart opened for business in Rogers, Arkansas
- July 3rd, 1986: U.S. President Ronald Reagan presides over the relighting of the renovated Statue of Liberty
- July 4th, 1838: The Iowa Territory was organized
- July 5th, 1946: Bikini is introduced in Paris, France
- July 6th, 1854: First Republican Party Convention was held in Jackson, Michigan
- July 7th, 1928: Sliced bread was sold for the first time by the Chillicothe Baking Company in Missouri
- July 8th, 1932: Dow Jones Industrial Average reached it lowest level of the Great Depression bottoming out at 41.22
- July 9th, 1922: Johnny Weismuller swam the 100 meter freestyle in 58.6 seconds breaking the record and the minute barrier

- July 14th, 1881: Billy the Kid was shot and killed by Pat Garrett outside of Fort Sumner

- July 24th, 1866: Tennessee became the first U.S. state to be readmitted following the American Civil War

- July 29th, 1907: Sir Robert Baden Powell set up the Brownsea Island Scout camp in Poole Harbour on the south coast of England; the camp ran from August 1-9, 1907 and is regarded as the founding of the Scouting movement
