Audiologist Tricia Gross joins Parker Audiology

By Dr. Molly Parker, Audiologist and Owner
Parker Audiolology, P.C.

Tricia Gross has been a well-known audiologist and teacher in the Quad City Area for over 14 years. We are so proud that she is joining our family! As our newest member, I thought I would share a recent interview:

Tricia, Tell me about yourself:

I am originally from the Quad Cities, I have lived in Tennessee, Florida, and I’m back in Iowa. I stay busy with my family, and I have two dogs. I love being active: running, hot yoga, hiking and spending time with my family and friends. I have worked with ENTs, Hospital setting and in private practice. I have also taught a few classes at Augustana College with Dr. Ann Perreau. An aside: Augustana College has a fantastic Speech, Language and Hearing program!

How did you get into Audiology?

In college, I knew someone with speech difficulties, and I wanted to learn more about that. I took some classes and leaned that Audiology is a related field, and it was better suited to my interests. To me, there are so many great solutions for hearing loss, and I really enjoy connecting with kids and adults.

Tell me about a success story you have seen:

(Laughing) Obviously, I cannot talk about patients (due to HIPAA). But regardless of age, I have seen so much success keeping friends and families connected through hearing technology. Often this improves communication for the entire family so that everyone can stay connected in a
meaningful way.

What are challenges do you see?

I worry that people see hearing aids as being too expensive, or that it is just a sales pitch. Hearing aids are life changing, especially with the right kind of support. I know that Parker Audiology has financing options where you can get hearing aids as little as $200/month (pending approved credit).

Any other advice you could share?

My philosophy is that if you are having problems with hearing loss, you should just come in and talk to us at Parker Audiology – let me try some realistic solutions in a real-world setting. You won’t know what you are missing until you discover it yourself. Then at least your family can stop pestering you!

Parker Audiology is built on a team of audiologists who are dedicated to serving you like you are family. Appointments are encouraged – or come in Wednesday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon and ask to meet our staff!
