Tassel Ridge Winery wins “Best of Class” at Wine Competition

Tassel Ridge Winery in Leighton, Iowa, recently won “Best of Class” and a Gold Medal for Iowa Candleglow® White at the International Cold Climate Wine Competition held at The Winery at Sovereign Estate in Waconia, Minnesota. Tassel Ridge 2020 Iowa Edelweiss also won a Gold Medal.

“I was delighted to hear that we’d won the Best of Class and a Gold Medal for Candleglow® White,” said Tassel Ridge owner, Bob Wersen. “This wine has been our “go-to” wine for fine dining with chicken and fish for several years. The 2020 Edelweiss is our best Edelweiss yet thanks to a mature vineyard and improvements we’ve made to our winemaking processes.”

Tassel Ridge Iowa Candleglow White won Best of Class for white wine blends while also winning a Gold Medal. Iowa Candleglow White is a dry white blend with La Crescent, Brianna, and Edelweiss making up the blend. Iowa Candleglow White pairs perfectly with fish and most chicken dishes.

Tassel Ridge also won a Gold Medal for the 2020 Iowa Edelweiss. The 2020 vintage has just been released and is on its way to retailers in its trademark tall blue bottle. In addition, Tassel Ridge Winery won bronze medals for the following wines:

  • Robert Duncan® 2018 Iowa, Ruby Reserve dessert wine
  • •Oskyfizzante® Pink
  • 2020 Iowa Brianna
  • Iowa La Crescent
  • 2020 Iowa Sabrevois

Fifty-two wineries submitted 301 wines for the International Cold Climate Wine Competition which traditionally has been held in conjunction with the annual Minnesota State Fair. This year the competition was held separately from the fair.
